Prototype FLAG devices

Two prototype FLAG devices built up on breadboards.

Current situation

We based these little prototypes on Waveshare ESP32-C3 dev boards. It's a nice package which has good support from Espressif.

FLAG device is our working name. It is the idea that your "flag" is also your Colour (ceremonial flag) - and maybe reveals your "true colours". Anyway, we'll have to work on that. For now it's OK.

Using these prototypes we have been able to:

  • Create a binary key - a representation of your sense of purpose, beliefs, values and other data,
  • Advertise as a FLAG device,
  • Use encryption to prove that we are a genuine FLAG device and not somebody trying to spoof us,
  • Connect with a genuine FLAG device and exchange keys,
  • Compare keys in a rudimentary way (so far) and determine if the two devices are some kind of match,
  • Use an RGB LED and small vibration motor to provide basic haptics to alert the device owner.

Everything at the moment is very basic, but it is working the way we want it to - so there is hope in progress.
